So funny. Until Kathy mentioned it, I totally forgot the one person I really, really need is a dust bunny wrangler & mess monster whisperer!! Cleaning house ... how could I miss that one?? It never makes it to the top of my list of things I want to do.

~ Is It Better to Give...

In between working on some art for the shop, the de-cluttering continues. I know there is progress, but it sure is slow going.

Over the last 20+ years I have somehow accumulated a lot of picture frames. Obviously my walls must have had much more on them, and I was always picking up frames for art, or just because they were old and pretty. Now I need less walls, and even less on any flat surface.



On my last visit to GoodWill I noticed that they just literally threw almost everything in a big bin. Really good items tossed in with something worth a dollar or two. So it has changed my mind about it being better to give to them rather than selling a few things.

I wanted to do some more experimenting with the turquoise paints, so the old frames were the perfect outlet. They take a bit of time to do, but I think I just love playing with that color. And they look so nice in the shop.

In defense of GoodWill, I do have to say that we have another store further away, and they handle the donations in a much better way. So we just take the time to go to that store now. I still think it's better to give, but it's also good to choose wisely where to give.

~ Antique Books - New Art For Old Pages

It's been a while since I started searching for antique books that were past their use for reading but still filled with the beauty of the aging dames they are to use for art. Every so often Sweet Hubby would see the books and ask if I had started doing anything with them yet. Why of course. I have ...... I'm thinking and planning. Or procrastinating. I usually have way too many projects in my head, too little time or a lack of time management skills, and sometimes all of the above.

Finally I started redoing some art and making designs just for these fabulously aged, gorgeous pages. How happy it makes me to see that the books did not get tossed out just because the were falling apart and most likely would never be read again. Of course you know we all love just stacking them and admiring them, too.

If you already have any old dictionaries, encyclopedias or you find an aging beauty in a junk or antique shop, maybe you can give new life to the old pages. So many old books end up in a landfill because they are in such bad shape. There's always an arty idea to bring them new life.

~A Little Digital ~ The Queen Bee Design by The Decorated House

New art, new designs. I wanted to make some pillows on white linen. It all started way back when the dining room changed and I kept the bee design that was on the back of the chairs. Some of you said what nice pillows that would make. Another project that I have no idea when I will get around to. Since I'm looking for a natural linen background, the yellow won't work, but I was still loving a little bee design.

So after a lot of inquiries about offering some of my art designs for digital download, it seemed like the perfect time to offer some of the things I've been creating for my own decorating. I just can't decide what I want yet, and by the time I make the pillows, who knows what the final decisions will be. I have several designs in various stages of creation. So come by the shop often to see what's new, and so affordable for creating something of your own. (Personal Use Only.)

~ Beau Bunny Rabbit Celebrates Alice In Wonderland

It certainly appears to have been a bunny kind of week around here!

I've had something brewing for the longest time, almost since Beau Bunny was born. He has wanted to be dressed up just like the rabbit in Alice In Wonderland. He just doesn't want to leave the comfort of home. You know nice meals and yummy cookies. He did however want a watch something bad. So now he has one.

I usually have little interest in seeing movies at the theater instead of at home where I can put my feet up, and come and go as I please. But the 3-D thing is pulling even people like me off our comfy sofas. We were thinking about going to seeing Alice In Wonderland next week. The reviews have been mixed so far. But since it is in 3-D it is the only way to see the full effects. At the price of 3-D tickets I sure hope is is exceptional.

~ BUNNY IN WAITING ....

We might have to revisit this bunny thing. No matter how much I try to ignore the bunnies, there is always one more in the back of my imagination just waiting to come out. This is one of those Bunnies in Waiting. I worked on a little series of the bunny sitting on a chair with some of my favorite backgrounds that I've created. They blend my love of vintage style, aqua & turquoise, an obsession for the architecture of chairs ... and yes, bunny rabbits.

And I think Beau Bunny might soon be chasing Alice (in Wonderland) along with the other "chicks" these days. He keeps looking at his watch and saying he thinks he is late for something. Oh well, I might as well just enjoy playing the bunnies.

~ A BUNNY RABBIT QUEEN

The Bunny Rabbit Queen would not be me. I have known a few people who really have a tough time every passing by a bunny and not giving it a good home. Kudos to the wonderful ones who are involved in rabbit rescue!

Although I seldom go through any dry spells or artist's blocks, there are those periods when I could literally stay awake 24 hours and just keep creating. Maybe it is the hint of Spring that came last week. Not today, it's back to cool weather outside. Which is just as perfect for the moment. The outside gardening and weeding can wait.

This is a new print that I have in my shop. I think I should make some note cards with this one, too. They would be so charming. Now this little Bunny could certainly be a Bunny Rabbit Queen.
My heart has been so sad over the tragedy at our SeaWorld. I remember Dawn Brancheau at the Shamu shows. Seeing the footage of her on TV brought back the memories of seeing how much she adored what she did. And how much she loved the animals of the oceans and seas. I am profoundly thankful for those, like Dawn, who dedicate their lives each day to protect animals and the planet as they educate us, and give joy to others while doing so.

~ New Year Resolution ~ More Turquoise

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to have more Turquoise, as in the color of the fabulous Tiffany Blue box fame. Not that it will be anything from Tiffany's. I just love the color.

It has been such a good love affair. Turquoise goes beautifully with the whites I love and the Lime/Kiwi Green seems to enjoy the company as well. They do get along so well together.
